Food Pantry Services
Mills County Storehouse provides emergency food assistance to eligible residents of Mills County. Pantry services are designed to supplement household food needs during times of financial strain or crisis. While food assistance is our primary service, Mills County Storehouse may also provide emergency clothing and essential household items when such needs directly impact household stability.
Mills County Storehouse operates as a client-choice food pantry, allowing individuals and families to select food items based on their household needs, preferences, and dietary considerations. This approach promotes dignity, reduces waste, and supports healthier food choices.
Holiday and Family Support Programs
Operation Santa
Operation Santa is a seasonal program administered by Mills County Storehouse that provides holiday support to children and families in need across Mills County.
Services include:
• Toys and gifts for children
• Clothing and essential items
• Gift cards to support family needs during the holiday season
Recipients include households already receiving pantry services, as well as additional children and families identified through a coordinated referral process in partnership with Mills County schools and local service agencies. This approach helps ensure holiday support reaches families experiencing verified need throughout the community.
Thanksgiving Boxes
Each year, Mills County Storehouse provides Thanksgiving food boxes to households facing food insecurity. Thanksgiving boxes are offered to regular pantry recipients in addition to their monthly pantry visit and are designed to supplement household food needs during the holiday season.
These boxes include items intended to support a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
In addition, Mills County Storehouse partners with a local high school youth group to deliver Thanksgiving food boxes to identified seniors who have difficulty leaving their homes, helping ensure they are able to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.
