Our Impact

Mills County Storehouse addresses food insecurity by providing reliable access to food for individuals and families throughout Mills County, while also offering limited emergency assistance when urgent needs arise.

Through our client-choice food pantry, households may receive a week’s worth of groceries once per month. Depending on community need, Mills County Storehouse serves approximately 150–250 families each month. Families are able to select food items that best meet their household needs, supporting dignity and reducing waste. Basic hygiene items are also provided when available.

In addition to regular pantry services, Mills County Storehouse responds to emergency situations, including fires, floods, and severe weather, by providing food, clothing, and essential household goods to affected individuals and families.

Seasonal programs further extend our impact. In coordination with Mills County schools and local service agencies, Mills County Storehouse administers Operation Santa and Thanksgiving food assistance programs. In the most recent year, Operation Santa provided toys, clothing, and gift cards to approximately 250 children, and Thanksgiving food boxes were distributed to help families prepare a full holiday meal in addition to regular pantry support.

All services are delivered through a 100% volunteer-run model, supported by strong community partnerships and responsible stewardship of resources. Proceeds from donated goods and community support help offset food purchase costs and sustain pantry operations year-round.
